Thank you for your patience...
The African bushveld is undoubtedly the best place as any to make your first foray into photography or gazing of the southern hemisphere’s stars. Far from any major light pollution, certain months of the year offer completely clear, haze-free nights, and the distant (or not-so-distant!) roar of a lion can add immeasurably to the experience. Discover the magical star-studded African night sky at Londolozi.
Africa… The very name of the continent is romantic. One of the last wild places where the great herds of elephants still roam, where the night is sequined with a million stars and where lions may be found gliding across a clearing in the dawn light. Enjoy exclusive suites along the Sand River with glass-encased en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers, heated plunge pools and, quite extraordinary, a private outdoor river-view bath.
Set along the banks of the Sand River, Londolozi’s exclusive suites enjoy uninterrupted vistas of lush, riverine vegetation as well as clear crests frequented by wildlife, all beneath an awe-inspiring African sky. Discover varying vegetation on your daily game drives, explore the sacred spaces of riverbeds hiding the elusive leopard and have sundowners, elevated on a crest, capturing the African sunset in all its glory.
While immersing yourself in the Londolozi way of life, between Big Five game drives take a trip contouring our neighbouring villages (or a helicopter flip) to explore The Good Work Foundation. Being the founding partner, Londolozi takes great pride in these digital learning campuses, which have grown as a futuristic schooling model, able to deliver world-class education to the remote villages of rural South Africa. See these campuses in action and meet some of their wonderful teachers as well as students gaining access to education in the centre of their villages.
There are a few precious places on the planet where Mother Nature has fallen in love with the land. Anyone doing an audit of the Kruger National Park’s natural wealth – with its 147 mammals, 114 reptiles, 34 amphibians, 49 fish and 507 trees – will conclude that South Africa’s largest national park is one of these blessed territories.
Famous for its Big 5, the true wonder of the Kruger National Park’s two million hectares cannot be confined to a list. Consisting of the amalgamation of public and private land, the real allure of the greater Kruger National Park lies in its absolute diversity.
Londolozi has been recognised as a leading location for wildlife photography. Famous for its leopard viewing, these cats and other wildlife have been photographed and admired. With its incredible light, diverse scenery and abundant wildlife, it is not surprising that an increasing number of discerning travellers have developed a growing interest in this wonderful pastime. Londolozi offers a diverse range of ways to get into this great combination between nature, art and technology – from their specialised photographic safaris, professional on-site photo gear rental shop, to pioneering the establishment of the first on-location photographic safari studio.
The Legacy, the location & the Love: Since 1979 Londolozi has had a love affair with leopards…Described as an elusive and solitary predator, Leopards were a rarity in the early days at Londolozi until one early morning in 1979, a young female was found who displayed a far greater tolerance to the presence of a Land Rover. This was the original Leopard of Londolozi and she became known simply as “The Mother”. Using sensitive techniques, the Londolozi Rangers and Trackers were able to, over time, develop a relationship with this female, whose relaxed nature filtered down to her cubs and successive generations, that resulted in the incredible Leopard viewing that we enjoy today. A unique kinship between wild leopards and man was built. Today this dynasty represents an unprecedented record of free ranging wild Leopards in Africa which has been chronicled by the many Guides and Trackers, past and present, who have worked at Londolozi. Each year this body of work continues to grow as these animals intimately share with us their story which is thus woven into ours. Through moments of beauty, mystery and exhilaration we have been made to fall in love with these enigmatic cats.
