The Château de la Treyne and Bela Vista Hotel & Spa honoured in AOL Travel’s bucket list
AOL Travel has just published its bucket list honouring the 12 hotels that you absolutely must see! Among them, the Château de la Treyne (Lot) occupies the 5th spot and certainly deserves its position here. Majestically and proudly presiding over the banks of the Dordogne River, the Château de la Treyne is a haven of peace, the dazzling reflection of its pale stone dancing on the river below. When admiring the immense view of the countryside from the Château’s terrace, time seems to stand still. The same sensation follows you as you stroll through the estate’s formal garden or take a hot-air balloon ride that allows you to touch the sky while delighting in this unique setting. This peace and harmony will lead you to remember the light, silence and endless expanse of nature that welcome you into communion.
Located in a region rich with cultural heritage, the Château de la Treyne is a prelude to discovering the Périgord and Quercy regions. With Lacave Caves in Rocamadour, the Padirac Chasm and Collonges-la-Rouge, history and nature have left their delicate mark on the region for our own delight! And when it comes time to discover the region’s flavours, Stéphane Andrieux, the restaurant’s chef for over 18 years, delights us with his creations that celebrate the best the Dordogne region has to offer: free-raised veal, truffles, foie gras and asparagus. His inspired menu has found a perfect setting at the Château de la Treyne.

The same list honours the Bela Vista Hotel & Spa located in Portugal's Algarve region with 6th place. In this 19th century family mansion towering before the Atlantic Ocean, you'll find glazed ceramic tiles decisively yet delicately combined with contemporary-style furniture. The touches of yellow and blue appearing throughout the premises are to remind guests that the ocean is just a step away and the sun is always shining overhead. Take a moment to contemplate eternity from the pool surrounded by palm trees or the terrace overlooking the ocean. As for the cuisine, João Oliviera, proposes a tour of the flavours of Portugal in which the smallest bite is a memorable experience!
