When art and fashion meet

The house that once belonged to La Fayette is located in the prestigious Parisian fashion quarter. Rue d'Anjou, a stone's throw from Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, is thronged with couturiers, designers and models from around the world. During Paris Fashion Week, the Marquis is particularly appreciated for its intimate surroundings. Artists love to gather in this luxurious family home. Illustrious fashion houses rub shoulders with famous Place Vendôme jewellers. The Grand Palais, which hosts prestigious art events such as the FIAC, is just around the corner from the gentle calm of the property. You will also find a large variety of Relais & Châteaux restaurants just a short walk away.

Designed by architect Michele Bönan

Three centuries later, with La Fayette's portrait taking pride of place in the prestigious gallery at Versailles, the Marquis' home has been transformed. The famous Italian architect Michele Bönan - for whom the title of 'revolutionary' would also be fitting - has created a hotel that combines history with modernity. Michele Bönan built his reputation styling luxury yachts and has been able to exploit the unique aspects of the space, creating entirely custom-made furniture. The 15 suites are decorated with art works that were carefully selected by the Florentine master. Just look at those beams in ivory Italian stucco. The top quality fabrics are from the Milan designer Dedar, who also works with Hermès. Having caught wind of this exclusive address, Massimo Listri, a maestro of architectural photography, came to immortalise the décor. You can see the hotel here thanks to his photographs.

An historic address

In the 18th century, the huge double doors of 8 Rue d'Anjou bore witness to the daily comings and goings of the Marquis de La Fayette. The décor of his home gleamed with marks of distinction that reflected his standing. From the elegance of the fine woodwork to the decorative elements of the entrance, this is one of the rare Parisian mansions to have escaped modifications in the 19th century, when Baron Haussmann redesigned great swathes of the city. The large paved courtyard and original flooring in the entrance are exceptional pieces of French heritage and are not to be missed. Once you are settled in your suite, turn your attention to the authentic Louis XIV fireplace and the sublime Carrara marble that adorns the bathroom.
