Relais Bernard Loiseau celebrates 50 years of history

Relais Bernard Loiseau celebrates 50 years of history

When Bernard Loiseau took over La Côte d’Or in Saulieu in 1975, the property was already a member of Relais & Châteaux, but he brought with him a groundbreaking new vision for this historic establishment. His approach centered around serving refined, authentic cuisine deeply rooted in the terroir. In 1991, Bernard elevated the institution to the very pinnacle of culinary excellence, earning three Michelin stars.

Following his death in 2003, Bernard’s wife, Dominique, and their daughters, Blanche and Bérangère, have continued to honor his legacy. Today, Head Chef Louis-Philippe Vigilant perpetuates the property’s renowned culinary signature.

Ever since the foundation of Relais & Châteaux, such family-run establishments have embodied the soul of the Association. Discover their stories in Travel Book 03: Past, Present and Future: The DNA of a Global Family (written by Sylvie Berkowicz), available in all our properties and at our Paris boutique.
