Set at the base of Aspen Mountain, Ajax Tavern at The Little Nell comes to life at lunch, and the energy rolls on well into the evening. If you go no further on the menu, try the truffle fries and Ajax double cheeseburger made with award-winning wagyu beef from Emma Farms CMC. Both have earned their reputation. The sun-drenched mountainside patio is Aspen’s premier spot to see and be seen offering an après-ski menu in winter and live music on the Ajax Stage in summer.

The Little Nell sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and is the only five-star property in the United States to be ISO 14001 certified, an environmental management standard. 

Over the years, The Little Nell has changed its practices and installed equipment to conserve the environment. The lighting is fully energy efficient, the hotel has several solar panels and most of the food is sourced from local producers. The property started an innovative program called the Eco-Luxe Program that gets its customers involved in the effort with actions like offering them reusable water pitchers. The Little Nell also funds the Environment Foundation that backs projects aiming to reduce the impacts of climate change.

“I take 10 guests powder skiing every Friday in the winter ski season. We take the Silver Queen Gondola up Aspen Mountain and jump straight on a snowcat for an adventure off the back side of Ajax. After skiing knee- to waist-deep powder -- two miles of vertical of untracked snow--we go to our private cabin and serve a gourmet lunch with wines selected by our master sommelier, Chris Dunaway. To top it all off, we have a therapist to massage away any sore muscles from the skiing.”
