Castle Hill Inn, a 100% employee-owned property, has been committed to supporting and promoting local producers, notably founding the Farm Fresh Rhode Island cooperative, together with other partners, in 2004.
For chef Lou Rossi, it is of utmost importance to know the ingredients, as well as the suppliers, he works with. Castle Hill Inn is one of the founding members of the Farm Fresh Rhode Island cooperative, and shares the same ideal of a fairer food system. Their mission is to develop a local food network which factors in the environment, as well as the health and quality of life of farmers and the Rhode Island population. The cooperative works on three levels: making the producers known, developing and sustaining food markets, and encouraging consumers to buy and cook fresh produce.
