Take a voyage on Glenapp Castle's own boat and discover the beauty of the Scottish coast from the sea. Explore the Isle of Arran, a perfect example–in miniature–of everything that makes Scotland charming. Set sail for Ailsa Craig, an iconic volcanic peak that has become a sanctuary for more than 40,000 seabirds. You can also go eagle fishing with Ripley, the winged lord of the estate: a captivating experience, and an extraordinary natural spectacle.
Afternoon Tea is a special tradition here at the castle. Treat yourself to a gourmet Scottish moment in a refined setting, as elegant as it is indulgent. What better way to spend time with loved ones than to enjoy it with a selection of the finest specialty teas and coffee, delicious sandwiches and pastries, and, of course, homemade scones, jam and thick cream?
Glenapp Gardens is home to one of the finest glasshouses in Scotland, dating from 1832. Similar to one on the royal estate of Balmoral, it's home to The Azalea Glasshouse, a delightful location for private dining and a space that makes guests feel like they're in a Monet painting. Next to the glasshouse is The Bothy, a renovated outbuilding which has become an exhibition space for local artists, as well as a locale for intimate dinners with idyllic views over Azalea Pond.
Glenapp Castle is a haven of peace for families, and a paradise for children, who can enjoy a thousand-and-one adventures in complete safety. Supervised activities include pétanque, tennis, croquet or quoits, a game of skill dating from antiquity. Animal and nature lovers can enjoy horseback-riding lessons, learn about beekeeping, and even visit a traditional farm to admire the famous Highland cows.
Overlooking the Irish Sea, Glenapp Castle is the prime example of a Scottish Baronial-style castle. Surrounded by 15-hectare grounds full of majestic rhododendrons, the stately theme continues on the inside. Although built in the late 19th century, this castle draws on Gothic and Renaissance styles to give it a fairytale-like appeal. Its crenelations, towers, turrets and warm decor make it one of Scotland's most romantic castles.
“For many years I have been welcoming regular guests back to the castle to enjoy the wonderful shooting at Glenapp and other local shooting estates. The quality of shooting, the high hills and deep glens as well as Glenapp Castle as their home from home keep these guests returning each year.”
“Weddings are amongst the most incredibly special events at the castle. We have many years experience organising small and intimate, but no less, spectacular weddings. Glenapp Castle is such a truly beautiful wedding location. Everything from the stunning backdrop of the romantic castle and gardens to the food, service and fabulous accommodation, Glenapp Castle has it all.”
