Our commitments
The Cadonau family, who owns the In Lain Hotel, has completely renovated and expanded this inn, which is typical of the Engadin region. These renovations have accentuated the precious regional features, improved energy performance and reduced the environmental footprint of the buildings.
The aim of the renovation work was to create a modern, cozy, luxurious and totally environmentally conscious space. The expansion work was carried out mostly using wood from the surrounding forests. Besides being a strong building material, wood is a very good insulator. It is also perfect for blending the structures into the woodsy landscape of pine and larch trees. During this work, Tamara and Dario Cadonau, Maîtres de Maison, and Marco Cadonau, Dario's brother and a carpenter, paid careful attention to how the hotel's business would impact the environment. A geothermal heating system has now been installed. Water from a nearby spring is used to fill the natural pool and provide air conditioning for the entire complex.
