In 1975, Michel Guérard laid down the principles of dietetic cuisine without sacrificing culinary pleasure, his Grande Cuisine Minceur. Light, Naughty, Vegetarian, Virtuous and quite simply Delicious, the same cuisine is still being developed in Eugénie, where guests cannot wait to indulge in an exciting menu, including gourmet dessert for under 600 calories. For those who want to learn how to recreate this exceptional cuisine, the Institut Michel Guérard cookery school within the estate holds classes and courses throughout the year.

Health at the end of your fork

Seven kilometres from Eugénie, the former 17th century barony Château de Bachen is home to the Guérard family and the vineyard where Michel Guérard has been making his distinctive wines for 35 years. The vineyard is open to oenophiles by appointment for private guided tours with our oenologist, followed by a tasting of the latest vintages.

Designed as a luminous winter garden, the Orangerie restaurant has a green terrace that opens out generously onto the Eugénie gardens and the elegant baroque fountain. Its seasonal menu, rich in nuances, will take you on a journey between chic local cuisine – great classics of the House and exceptional products simply grilled over the embers in the fireplace – and another of plant inspiration including cereals, vegetables and herbs from the garden. Food lovers will be delighted by the magical large trolley of old-fashioned desserts.

The Jardin du Curé, Potager de la Ferme aux Grives, Enclos de la Ferme Thermale, water garden, sprites garden, grassy amphitheatre, main courtyard and the Jardin du Kiosque... no less than eight gardens and vegetable patches make up the green patchwork of Les Prés d’Eugénie. Various herbs key to Michel Guérard’s cuisine are grown in the vegetable gardens. The rose gardens produce flowers for all the bouquets at the property. Higher up, on the hillside in Eugénie and hidden from view, is an orangery filled with clementines, lemons and calamondins.

Remarkable Gardens

Facing onto the Atlantic Ocean, the Maisons Marines d’Huchet wooden lodges welcome castaways for hedonistic holidays just 100 kilometres from Eugénie. At the end of the garden, on the seashore free from human construction, Lette Blanche beach attracts surfing enthusiasts with its wonderful waves and safe environment. A qualified instructor gives private lessons every morning for groups of two or more, which are suitable for surfers of all levels.
