Explore our vegetable garden

Every day, organic fruits, vegetables and herbs cultivated in our own gardens are hand-selected and freshly picked. After the briefest of sojourns with the chef, these ‘superfoods’ appear without undue delay on the plates of guests, for a full-flavored gastronomic experience. We invite guests to explore the castle garden–a true kingdom of flavors–where a tasting area is set up. Everyone can help out in the garden too, if they wish, and experience a new form of ‘agro-fitness’. Reconnecting with nature in this lush country setting is a refreshing delight, particular for guests from cities used to life in the fast lane.

The best Slovenian wines

Viticulture is a proud cultural tradition of the region. Dolenjska itself is renowned for producing cviček, a local wine made with red and white grapes to a centuries-old method. From Otočec Castle, you can see small cabins spread through vineyards on the surrounding hills–these house precious barrels of this famously aromatic wine. To help introduce guests to the richness of Slovenia’s finest wines, we have converted one of the castle's towers into a wine library. It is the ideal place to taste the pride of Slovenian winegrowers, from cviček to superb white or red bottlings and sweet wines.
