“Our cuisine celebrates the best of seasonal New Zealand produce, with an emphasis on fresh Otahuna offerings sourced from our own vegetable garden, fruit orchard, glasshouses, mushroom house and even our own pork and lamb. Dinner is usually five small courses which change daily, and are matched with New Zealand wines included in the tariff. My team of chefs and I bring each course to the table and personally present them to our guests.”

At the heart of a 19th century Victorian estate, Otahuna Lodge seamlessly knits past and present together: period woodwork, stained glass windows and fifteen working fireplaces combine with a host of modern comforts and a rich collection of contemporary New Zealand art. Outside, Otahuna, which is Maori for little hill among the hills, has striking views over the Canterbury Plains and the Banks Peninsula. One million daffodils welcome guests to the Lodge in the spring whilst in the autumn, guests delight in foraging for cepe mushrooms under the century-old oaks with our gardeners. Wander the grounds to discover lawns, hidden glades, ponds, productive gardens, a formal parterre and woodland trails.
