Dragsholm Castle is 800 years old. Before it became part of Relais & Châteaux, it was a bishop’s palace, a royal castle and most recently the seat of a baron. My family came here in 1937 and I am its third-generation. As part of Relais & Châteaux, our purpose is the castle’s cultural history, our Michelin-recognised gastronomy with its roots in the reclaimed inlet and the surrounding countryside, which enjoys UNESCO protection status. Our story is particularly powerful and has a unique sense of time and place.
At Dragsholm Castle, hospitality is crucial. We are open and honest and invite our guests to join us in cosy presence, as though they were guests in their own home. To us, it is vital that they feel at home and experience the pride and pleasure we feel for our history and traditions and the quality of what we have to offer them.
It is our ambition that as a guest at Dragsholm Castle you will depart with a memory for life and the desire to return. We would like to be remembered for our heart-felt, warm hospitality and for having given you a unique experience of cultural history, gastronomy and nature. The memory should be like a real-world fairytale.
Our guests experience the pride of our staff and the pleasure they get from working at a piece of living Danish history, while helping to write the next chapter is in a huge volume. Our guests experience chefs who harvest the woods, fields and the beach, farmers, gatherers and fishermen who bring their wares to the kitchen and gladly tell the guests all about the harvest and catch of the day.
