Kanamean Nishitomiya was established in 1873 in Kyoto, the capital of Japanese culture. Located near Nishiki Market in central Kyoto, our great location and long history allow our efforts to evolve daily while preserving time-honoured traditions, which are consistent with our view that traditions represent a succession of innovations.
Our trademark is our Japanese hospitality ‘omotenashi’ that have been preserved over a century at our property. Not only do we give attention to guest relations but to the slightest details to our small luxury Japanese-style hotel ‘Ryokan’ for optimal guest satisfaction. Our garden is carefully sculpted to reflect the beautiful seasonal scenery of Kyoto, and we change our Japanese-style kaiseki cuisine monthly to exhibit the flavours of each season. The handcrafted pottery we use to present our cuisine are all genuine articles painstakingly selected and used to suit each season.
After a stay in Kanamean Nishitomiya and experiencing the originality, facilities and architectural style, omotenashi spirit and remarkable cuisine, your journey in Japan and Kyoto will be such an incredible one that you shall never forget.
We are delighted to share with you the depth of Japanese culture that arises from the confluence of various aspects: performing arts, design, architecture, fine arts, fashion, crafts and, not to forget gastronomy. All these elements coming together make up its quintessence. By staying at Kanamean Nishitomiya, you will easily and naturally come in contact with the very soul of the magnificent culture of Kyoto.
