One day, a guest described Terra Hotel as “the magic place.” The name stuck, as the magic can be felt everywhere: in the serenity of the landscapes and the purity of the alpine air, and in the sincere hospitality of the hosts and their creative cuisine, inspired by nature. It offers a complete culinary change of scene, immersed in an enchanting setting. At over 5,000 feet above sea level, not far from Bolzano, the contemporary architecture of the Terra Hotel-The Magic Place blends harmoniously with its wider environment. Inside, massive tree trunks, natural wood and soft colors create an elegant, contemporary yet warm atmosphere that instantly channels a sense of relaxation. Its dining room–bathed in light streaming through its floor-to-ceiling windows–reveals spectacular panoramic views of the Dolomites, a hiker's paradise. The perfect setting to appreciate the chef's distinctive gastronomic score, which changes with the seasons and is complemented by fine wines carefully selected by his sister Gisela, an expert sommelier. Both perpetuate the family legacy in a place that feels like home... beneath a carpet of stars.

Our commitments

Spending our childhood exploring the woods nearby our house, we learned about plants and their tastes, textures and uses from a young age. We were intrigued by the flora surrounding us, and were curious to understand the differences between various plants and fungi.
Always inquisitive, Heinrich would bring home plants he had picked on his adventures, and ask his mother if they could cook them or do something with them. Often, these plants would turn out to traditional healing plants that even Heinrich’s grandmother used to prepare. He was fascinated by this, and became so passionate about it, that he wanted to showcase it to the world through his cooking. This is how he fell in love with naturally-grown ingredients. Heinrich has now been working with wild herbs for over 20 years. He is also trained as a herbalist and took a mycology diploma.
For us, respect for nature is not just a fashion phenomenon, it is part of our daily lives. Therefore we only use organic meat, even if we cook for our team.
At 1622m above sea level, with a challenging climate, the property has taken significant measures to reduce its energy consumption: wood pellet heating, triple glazing, roof insulation and local hydro-electricity.

"In the morning when nature is waking up, I like to sit next to the Stoanernen Mandln. I enjoy the 360° view of the beautiful South Tyrol mountains, the Dolomites, and Ortler, and I listen to the birds chirping and breathe in the scent of the many mountain herbs. For me, it's a unique place. This spot has a particular appeal, being a sacred place for the Celts, the site of witch dances in the Middle Ages, and a place of energy in the modern era. The Stoanernen Mandln are just a 75-minute walk from Terra - The Magic Place. "

A fascination with the mountains and the Italian art of living

For me, South Tyrol is one of the most wonderful living spaces in the world. I'm fascinated by the traditional mountain world, the art of Mediterranean living in the town of Bolzano, and the proximity to excursion spots. At least once a year, I treat myself to an opera at the Verona Arena, go sailing on Lake Garda with my family, or escape to Venice. There are so many amazing places which are easily accessible from our house to take day trips.
