Tucked away amidst the Loire châteaux in the Sologne region's capital of Romorantin, the town that inspired Leonardo da Vinci to visit France, this Renaissance-era mansion has been welcoming in visitors since 1774, and is now run by the Clément family. From the Renaissance wing to the Napoleon III balconies, the 16 bedrooms here are embellished with authentic old materials, mirrors, woodwork and flagstones, all fully renovated by Marie-Christine and Didier Clément. Chef Didier Clément pours his talent and artful touch into developing groundbreaking natural flavors in dishes designed to sit alongside an incredible wine list, in which the wines of the Loire Valley are given pride of place. The Châteaux of the Loire from the air

A hot air balloon flight over the châteaux of the Loire is a truly unique experience! You'll be picked up in Cheverny at dawn or dusk and driven to the take-off site, which will be chosen by the pilot depending on the wind. Departure points include Blois, Chambord, Chaumont sur Loire and Fougères sur Bièvre. Should the weather be unsuitable for hot air ballooning, you'll be offered the chance to enjoy a Cessna flight over the châteaux of the Loire with your own pilot. Your hour-long flight will give you a bird’s eye view of the Renaissance châteaux and allow you to admire the mosaic of lakes and stately homes that make up the Sologne.

The châteaux of the Loire are celebrating 500 years since the Renaissance in the Centre-Val de Loire region - a stellar opportunity to rediscover the 'valley of the kings' from the comfort of our home in the golden triangle of the châteaux area. This is the perfect base from which to explore the most spectacular châteaux or stroll through some of France's most gorgeous parks and gardens - all within an hour's reach.

The Sologne reveals its true self only to those who have time on their hands to explore it. If you fancy taking in its fresh air and varied scenery, there’s no better way than hiking or bike riding. Rent one of our ‘Made in Romorantin’ electric bikes and we'll put together a route that is just the right length for you. A paradise for avid bird watchers, Beaumont Lake (23 km away) is the ideal place to observe the courtship rituals of breeding birds such as grebes, marsh terns and Eurasian bitterns.
