Elounda Mare organizes regular cleanup campaigns around the hotel, achieving results like the restoration of one of the wetlands crucial to the island's biodiversity. 
 

Thus every year, the staff at the Elounda Mare Hotel organizes local cleanup campaigns to beautify the streets, parking lots and most importantly the wetlands. These old salt marshes are a major biodiversity pool. Not only are these sites teeming with amazing animal and plant, they serve as a refuge for numerous species of migratory birds. All employees, as well as their families and local schoolchildren, participate in the cleanup campaigns. Guests are also invited to help if they wish. The team effort builds stronger ties with the local communities plus increases awareness and respect for the island's ecosystem.
