cliffside bungalows
cradle of Polynesian culture

In the heart of the Marquesas Islands, one of the most remote archipelagos in the world, the twenty wooden bungalows of Nuku Hiva by Pearl Resorts offer a breathtaking view of Taioha’e Bay and the dramatic peaks of the mountains that encircle it. The property, built from natural materials and decorated by artists from the island, has made “respect for Marquesan traditions” its watchword. The sophisticated and extremely fresh cuisine, which honours the work of local fishermen and hunters, is a testament to this. Offering customised expeditions and stays, the lodge takes you from sea to mountain, where you can explore the island’s four majestic valleys, meet locals at the artisan craft markets and discover sacred sites guarded by ancient sculpted statues known as tikis. Afterwards, you may even find yourself inspired to try your hand at wood carving during one of the workshops held on the island.
