Located between the estuary and the beaches of the Atlantic, this classic Gironde charterhouse is a lively place where the Cazes family cultivates the discreet charm and warm elegance of a home surrounded by vineyards and adorned with the works of contemporary artists. The wine list, with more than 1,800 vintages, includes Bordeaux Grands Crus such as the renowned Château Lynch-Bages, which has been with the family since 1939. During a winemaking session, assemble your own wine and start tasting. A few steps away, the village of Bages is an essential stop on the Bordeaux wine route, where you can wander at your leisure and truly experience art de vivre!
The current mansion is a secluded chartreuse of which the main building dates from the 19th century. The two turrets are older; they are the vestiges of the original 17th-century building. Located in a vineyard setting on the outskirts of Pauillac, the house became a member of Relais & Châteaux in 1992. Among this garden filled with pines and verbena, Château Cordeillan-Bages offers 28 bright rooms and suites in a timeless décor with modern accents. The Cazes family's personal art collection, family-style reception rooms, designer furniture and light fixtures (by Franck Gehry, Andrée Putman, Achile Castiglioni, Gae Aulenti and others), king-sized Italian beds, terraces and a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool add to the comfort and serenity of this beautiful setting. Just a few steps from here, the picturesque village of Bages is the setting for a true art of living. Feel free to arrive by helicopter.
