Our ambition is to inspire travelers to discover the world in the most beautiful way: conscious, responsible and meaningfully engaged with local communities. As a not-for-profit association of restaurants and hotels, we believe travel and gastronomy are dependent on nature, and it is our duty to ensure the continued integrity and vitality of our surroundings.
In the spirit of transparency, at the end of 2022 we published our first Sustainability Report in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, based on data gathered from our member properties regarding activity in 2021. By measuring our impact, establishing clear objectives and committing to publishing updated reports on an annual basis, we can track our progress and hold ourselves accountable.

To achieve our objectives by 2025 and 2030, we will accompany member properties with a roadmap to improve together as a global association.
The Relais & Châteaux Vision, a manifesto of 20 commitments presented to UNESCO in 2014, is the driving force behind our initiatives.
Our Sustainability Report builds on this Vision by focusing on 15 objectives across three pillars:
Environmental Conservation
Sustainable Cuisine
Social & Societal Empowerment
We have carefully mapped our own ‘ecosystem’ to bring to life the complexity of the relationships that exist throughout our business–such as those our member properties have with their suppliers and producers, with other members, and with our head office. In this way, we are seeking to identify additional ways in which we can collectively enhance our sustainability goals.
