"I was born into a farming family in Soissons, Picardy. As a child, I wanted to become a missionary. That’s why my sisters and I founded Batali, an organisation which helps to build schools in the Central African Republic. Today I divide my time between Paris, my small farm in Loiret, and La Briqueterie in Champagne. I spent a long time working for the Concorde group, headed by Jean Taittinger.
