Built from the heavy stones and the dreams of a family of aesthetes enamoured with their home country, Zornitza Family Estate produces wine, honey and truffles; cultivates organic fruits and vegetables; and raises its own livestock. The main house boasts a contemporary design, yet traditional materials. The cuisine is amazing; the service delectable. Staying at this property is a unique opportunity to discover southern Bulgaria in all of its luxury and authenticity — from local traditions to the historical richness of its sites dating to the Northern Thrace and ancient Greece, but also to the tastings of stunning wines in the estate’s marvellous cellar and the thirteen wineries in close proximity.

Our commitments

The Zornitza Family Estate lies among the rolling hills and vineyards of southern Bulgaria. The area is known for the purity of its air and its volcanic origins have endowed it with fertile soils, a curative spa mud, and natural mineral water.
The owner’s vision was to create an oasis of calm for guests, in complete harmony with nature. The hotel’s materials are largely natural and the hotel sources ingredients from its surrounding eco-farm on the 200ha estate. Here, organic herbs, fruits, and vegetables are tenderly cultivated. Honey, preserves, and truffles are also produced—the latter the fruit of an extensive tree planting scheme. The owner has also introduced 5ha of new vines for small-volume, high-quality production, with grapes harvested by hand and pressed on-site. The result is true “farm to fork” restauration with a respect for the area’s landscape and native wildlife.

Four stops and four tastes

We invite you for a walk in the Estate to taste our home-made produce. We start at the truffle orchard, then proceed with wine tasting, enjoy the honey from our bee hives, and end with juicy BBQ.

Flying in hot air balloon

The hot air balloon experience is a favourite pastime for our guests who would like to enjoy a glass of wine from the estate in the sky while soaring over the vineyards and the ridged Melnik rocks.
