Wine Spectator 2015 rewards the Vin Selección Especial 2011 by Abadía-Retuerta LeDomaine (Spain)
In the Duero Valley, not far from Valladolid in Spain, we produce an exceptional beverage recognised as one of the best wines of 2015 by notable American wine magazine Wine Spectator. Blind tasting of around 18,000 wines endeavours to reward price, production, availability, and quality. This exceptional red wine has risen to 15th place in the Top 100, with 94 points.
A key wine for Abadía-Retuerta LeDomaine, it offers a subtle combination of grape varieties with 75% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet-Sauvignon, and 10% Syrah. The wine's main characteristics include a deep red colour, a fresh and complex nose, and the richness of the red fruit used to make it. Aged in barrels for 19 months, it boasts flavours of cedar wood and roasted coffee. This is a firm wine which is very well-balanced and rich with aromas. LeDomaine, a 12th century former abbey transformed into a charming hotel, located in the very heart of the vines, with a brand new spa of almost 1,500m2, is delighted to deliver one of the best wines in the world and to pass on the heritage of this rich land.
