The migratory journeys of blue whales and sperm whales sees these majestic creatures pass just a few miles off Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Led by a naturalist guide from Cape Weligama’s Ocean Safari, you can head out to sea to observe them at close quarters while learning about the region’s incredible biodiversity. Along the way, it’s not uncommon to encounter other marine life including dolphins and turtles. On your return journey, a stop in Weligama Bay offers a chance to swim and enjoy breakfast in a spectacular natural setting.

This will be a delightful experience - with the added benefit of being a full-body workout

A Day with Giants

Guided by our Cape Weligama naturalist, you will spend a few hours observing wild elephants that Uda Walawe National Park is famous for. The park is also excellent for birdlife, especially raptors and migrant species that escape the European winter. Then, we visit the Elephant Transit home where wild, orphaned elephant calves are cared for and rehabilitated until they are released into the wild.
