Rutland Water
Hambleton Hall overlooks Rutland Water. This magnificent reservoir has an international reputation for providing a balance of sport, leisure and wildlife conservation and offers the opportunity for all to try something new. You can experience energetic sports such as windsurfing, rock-climbing or canoeing, hire a dinghy, go fishing or hire a bike from one of the UK’s largest cycle stores or just relax by the water and watch the action around the 25 mile shoreline. The far end of the reservoir is home to Rutland Water Nature Reserve, one of the most important wildfowl sanctuaries in Great Britain, regularly holding in excess of 20,000 waterfowl.

Places to Visit
Within twenty to thirty five minutes drive of Hambleton Hall there are a number of country houses, castles, and churches of considerable interest. Burghley House, Belton House, Belvoir Castle, Grimsthorpe Castle and Rockingham Castle. Some local village churches include Normanton and Exton. Alternatively many of our visitors like to seek some inspiration in a fine garden, our favourite gardens are Coton Manor and Easton Walled Gardens. We also have three charming market towns close at hand, Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford.

Itinerary - From ancient Roman Baths, the Cotswolds on to the nature reserve of the Hambleton Peninsula - a journey of natural beauty
Taking the time to cross England via its country roads is what this 6-day itinerary offers from the beautiful city of Bath to Oakham, a small town located in the heart of the Midlands. A trip through bucolic landscapes that could be seen in a painting by an old master. <a href="https://www.relaischateaux.com/us/destinations/routes-du-bonheur/from-ancient-roman-baths-the-cotswolds-on-to-the-nature-reserve-of-the-hambleton-peninsula-a-journey-of-natural-beauty" target="_new"><b>See the itinerary</b></a>
