Our apples, the basis for our cider and Calvados, are the very best to be found anywhere. Our milk comes about thanks to the expertise of our producers and the passion that drives them as they rear their Normandy cattle. Sample produce made from this milk, such as butter, cream, livarot (the oldest cheese in Normandy) and Pont-l’Évêque. The Normandy coastline is equally rich in seafood: it is the leading region for scallop fishing, the biggest producer of Pacific oysters, and also produces mussels. The region has plenty to offer".

The Château d’Audrieu is a listed historic monument that has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment program to recapture the finery of its early 18th-century interior. 

The property cultivates a sizable kitchen garden, from which the chef personally harvests vegetables and herbs ranging from beets, through cherry tomatoes, fennel, gherkins, green beans, and zucchini, to home grown raspberries and strawberries. In celebration of Normandy’s traditions, the château also produces significant volumes of organic cider. Developing the artisan theme, the property—conscious of the reduction in Europe’s bee populations—has installed its own hives in a biodiverse environment where bees can thrive; these yielded their first honey last spring. And, to further promote its homegrown apples, along with its roses, the château has launched its own line of flavored organic tea.

Château life

A few miles away from the Château d'Audrieu, step back in time and experience the raw emotion of D-Day. On 6 June 1944, American, Canadian and British troops landed on Normandy's beaches to free France from Germany's deathly grip.  Arromanches, Juno Beach (Courseulles-sur-mer) and Omaha Beach are just some of the beaches made famous by this devastating event. A unique piece of Roman art, the 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry depicts 58 scenes across cloth measuring 70 meters wide and 50 centimeters high. The embroidery illustrates the Norman conquest of England by William the Conqueror in 1066, with a total of nearly 650 different characters, monuments and animals. The tapestry is a precious slice of history and a testament to Franco-English relations.
