In search of white gold

The legend of the 'white gold' is an age-old story, one that is industrial, political, economic and above all, human, which has its roots beneath the region’s surface. In the beginning, there were saline springs. The Jura took advantage of this precious resource, establishing extraction facilities in Salins-les-Bains back in the 15th century. This legacy is now classified by UNESCO and waiting to be discovered near the chateau.
