A former sailing trawler left from the Vernazza shipyard (La Rochelle) in 1946, this gaff ketch ceased its career as a fishing boat in 1975 to devote itself to sea trips in Brittany. It partially sank in September 2020 before being bought by Beautiful Life Hotels who had it rehabilitated by Bob Escoffier, its former owner, in order to give it a second life...the Popoff became Le Caprice (named after one of the vessels that travelled the route between Lorient and the Indies in the 18th century) and is presented as a comfortable, totally atypical marine suite offering a unique stay experience. On dry dock, the Caprice allows you to cruise motionless through the woods and forests of the estate. The comfort of the master suite located at the bow of the ship is enough to make its sisters on dry land jealous... and what about the cabin room in the stern which is the children's dream refuge. Locguénolé is located next to the dark waters of a sea inlet in the heart of a land of legends. The Château and the small Manor House overlook a wide estuary where the light and landscape change with the tides. These buildings from the 18th and early 19th centuries are set in wooded parkland and have remained in the hands of the same family for centuries. They boast a combination of modern comfort and tradition with classical décor and period furniture. The creative cuisine is based on a subtle pairing of ingredients from the Morbihan terroir and the ocean. A private pontoon permits sailors travelling up the Blavet from Lorient harbour to dock at this delightful haven.

The Breton breeze rustles through the magnificent old rose bushes sheltered in the terraced gardens, with unrivalled perfumes, as well as the multicoloured azaleas, the remarkable hydrangea beds and the gigantic rhododendrons that grow under the beech trees. Here, biodiversity is in full bloom; and it can be seen in the hundreds of insects that plunge their legs and antennae into the nectar of the flowers. A suite aboard Le Caprice

The Caprice ended its career as a trawler in 1975 to become elegant marine accommodation. Moored at the quayside, its old rigging promises an unusual and memorable backdrop to your stay. At the bow of the boat, the master suite is as well-equipped as anything on dry land, while the cabin bedroom at the stern is a delight for little ones. Guests meet on the deck, which serves as a private rooftop. A stationary–but no less exotic–odyssey awaits!

A sailing paradise

"Are you an experienced sailor or a beginner? Locguénolé is the port of call to make your dreams become reality. Setting off for the islands in the open sea from the hotel's private pontoon is an unforgettable experience. Coming down the inlet and crossing Lorient harbour before joining the ocean is unbelievably peaceful. Set course for the islands: Groix, Belle-Île or the Glénans, according to the most favourable winds. A professional skipper is on board for your safety and to handle the boat. Lunch in the anchorage of the islands is the defining moment of the day."
