Sichuan se encuentra cerca del Tíbet, y está atravesada por un macizo montañoso más antiguo que el Himalaya. Sus afilados picos y sus bosques envueltos en la niebla dibujan una China muy diferente de la de los rascacielos de Shanghái o Pekín. El Su Shien Valley está situado en un lugar que recuerda a los antiguos grabados del milenario Imperio del Medio. En esta cuna del taoísmo, el hotel es el refugio ideal para realizar un retiro espiritual e iniciarse en «la vía», la religión de la China profunda. Bajo su apariencia de lodge forestal, alberga algunas habitaciones y suites que constituyen otras tantas invitaciones a la contemplación zen. Presentan una elegante decoración minimalista, con madera clara y piedra bruta, y con líneas fluidas. Las habitaciones poseen grandes ventanales, ideales para meditar mientras el viento susurra entre los árboles. Las habitaciones dan a patios interiores, algunas cuentan con un baño tradicional privado, y están en armonía con el bosque. Un bosque que invita a dar largas caminatas antes de sumergirse en el agua caliente del onsen y recibir un tratamiento tradicional al son del songbo, un instrumento musical de la zona. En armonía con la filosofía taoísta, el restaurante Hotaru, emplazado en una plantación de bambús, sirve una cocina típica de Sichuan que sigue el ritmo de las estaciones.
